3C single seat

Was there a 3C single seat with a storage box like the one for the 750?

I rescued one that was on a pre-oil cooler 3C at a wreckers years ago thinking it would fit my SF2.

Just curious.

Hey, Rob. Nice to see your moniker on the forum. Don't forget I've still got your front wheel and the unused new Boranni copy at casa mia. Must be a couple of years or three at least I've had them - had the front straightened by Neway Wheel Works yonks ago.

Hi Quentin,
Good to hear from you, I'll ring soon about the wheel.
How is your project SF coming along?

I don't like talking about it on here, Rob. I'm being teased relentlessly o_O:LOL: No idea why - it's only been about 6 years so far ...

The reality is the big stuff is all done, the frame is being painted and I feel like I can actually have it running .... 'soon'. Lockdown is both good and bad - frees up time for it, but also frees up time for every other non-SFQ project that needs to be tackled around the house!

Have you got anything up and running lately?

Prado crapped a head gasket so my only wheels the last 6 months has been my 1985 Yamaha SRX600.

Now I need to find a left foot gearchange kit for the SF2 when I finally get it running. Do you know who sells one?

Wolfgang or Laverda Paradies might have SF3 stuff in stock. Maybe someone out there has converted left gear back to 'original' and has the crossover bits to sell?

You sure you can't learn to live with the RH shift? I find it easy peasy swapping over from bike to bike. RH shift is a lot tidier IMHO.

Every single day in Melbourne traffic with everyone out to kill you.

No time to hesitate, I am getting too old and don't have ABS. It is now autopilot.

If i were doing a conversion I'd probably design my own, Rob. I think the idea of the crossover shaft going through the swingarm axle is a good one. If you can source SF3 footpegs, they have the pivot points for the remote brake and gear levers built in - then it's just linkages, although you'll be trying to rig up a drum rear brake, so you'll have to improvise.

I might have some bit and pieces of a factory twin crossover system in the shed. Will look tomorrow and if I find something will pm you with some photos 😀👍

Cheers Tom.

Looked at the Laverda Paradise triple crossover kit ... 833 Euro then having to modify for a twin.

I see used Harley ironhead crossover splined shafts and levers around US$42, which would probably not be wide enough for the frame and also probably induce the legendary handling and performance of that marque.

Today I made an internal radius lathe tool then used it to make a tube bending die to then make a Toyota Prado heater return pipe so I can finally install the inlet manifold.

Making tools ... to make tools ... to make parts.

There is about 10 more hours in replacing the heads on a Toyota V6 compared to a complete engine changeover.

Can't wait to get back to working on my SF2 after many years of neglect. Mechanical simplicity and built like a brick dunny.
