Hi, just degreased the frame prior to sending it off to be sandblasted and noticed a curve in the  left hand downtube. None of the braces or other mounts appear to be distorted and there is no damage to the downtube paint apart from minor scratching. I am assuming this is to do with exhaust pipe spacing but need some reassurance, especially as I cannot find any photos showing this. The more observant among you will also notice from the attached photo that the frame is upside down.

Thats OK, they are all like that. More than a few people over the years have had that kink straightened out, only to find.... :)

Thanks Keith, I assumed that was the case given there is no damage elsewhere, and I had done 10,000 ks on it since the last owner and it ran in a straight line and was as smooth as silk.

But I would prefer to be certain than just assume, so thanks again.

I heard a guy got his bike written off by the insurance loss adjuster due to that kink in the frame. Kept the bike and got the money...

it is worse on RGS/Corsa/SFC.
The kink is more pronounced. My Corsa falls into the category that Grant mentiones above, it was parked in a tiny (as in only just enough space) front garden of a house in Croydon, when  a car failed to make the bend and knocked the wall over, and the bike, leaving them both resting on the front wall of the house under the window, result, cracked windscreen, minor damage to paint on fairing, broken indicator, broken headlight and BENT FRAME, not even the exhaust pipes/silencers showed any damage.Unfortunately the bike stood outside in that condition after the wall was rebuilt, for another four years (it was two years in the same place before damage) The outside stoarge conditons meant that the bike was not terribbly atractive, but none the less virtually all there and 40,000k's on an untouched factory built engine!!! The owner had been pestered on many occasions about selling the bike from many "door knockers" both dealers and private, he (later) had contacted most known dealers to try and sell, but declined any offers and became tired of this.I first heard about it when he saw my details in the ILOC mag and asked my advice, he said he wanted to sell for 500 GBP and to go to someone who would keep it, definately not a dealer,I "smoked" over there with a trailer and angle grinder (to cut the frozen locks) and big breaker bars (to split and loosen the frozen calipers) and paid the money.I have kept it.Turns out it is right at the very end of known Corsa procuction numbers (2888)
