3D printed tail piece inner and outer

Steve Burgess of 3D Unobtainium has been busy - following on from his sidepanels, airbox and tool tray for triples the 'duck tail' inner and outer tail pieces are hot off the printer.

These are printed in ABS/Nylon mix (like the originals), not thin polyethylene or fibreglass.

How does paint stick to the 3D items?

I remember plastic mudguards we painted causing a lot of grief, even with a plastic primer.

I've painted ABS automotive bumper panels and it just requires first scuffing w a 3M pad, cleaned w Prepsol, and sprayed w a self-etching primer. An additive is mixed w the paint to allow it to flex without cracking, but small pieces like these don't have this issue.

Good auto paint stores can custom color match a rattle can w a built in hardener for an OEM look.
 
I've sent him one, he's had support from Malcolm Cox, Ged Shorten, Australian dealers, ILOC members but it's just not acceptable. If something is wrong with an item fair enough, explain and ask for a refund but that was just abuse for the sake of it.
I don't see how something scanned from an original won't fit anyway unless the originals didn't fit either. His prices are good but the guy was complaining about that too.
 
The guy having a winge, does he make those parts as well? Does he own a Laverda? What business is it to him what people do regarding
re-manufacture of non available parts.

After seeing your post this morning I sent him an email of support as I have recently had one of his tool trays, which was great quality, as was his service.

Good news indeed..as I have mentioned, I lent my Jota side panels to Steve and have watched his printers in action. He is a really decent guy, into his classic bikes, and I am sure folk will be pleased with the products. In my view they are high quality, perfect fit though as ever will need prep for painting.
 
That's why so many were mystified, it reminded me of a few comments when Andy arrived with his converted Mercedes primary chain, another great addition to improve the waque. Some people see bad everywhere for some crazy reason.
