I wonder how many current day manufacturers bang out printed parts before going into manufacture? Must be a godsend, surely?
In about '92 I saw Harley prototyping with 3D, they were doing a clutch lever on a big machine. Also around that time I went to a government research facility where they were printing Soviet tanks and other equipment from pictures - for radar signature purposes.I wonder how many current day manufacturers bang out printed parts before going into manufacture? We used to do that for jawbones.my last surgery in 2020 on my right foot which was my 8th surgery on the same issue, my Orthopedic Surgeon did a bunch of scans on my foot first and than had the bone structure or what is left of it 3D printed which she showed me before knocking me out for 8 hours and opening my foot up to reconstruct it
She wanted to know before hand what she was going to face when she went inside, still have the 3D model next to my Bourbon cabinet
Does not look anything like a normal foot bone structure, I had the whole lower part of my foot nearly sliced off in 1976 on my way home from work on my SF2 by a drunk hit and run driver, I tore his front number plate off with my foot
Modern technology is fantastic
Me too. It's probably not beyond the realms of possibility considering how far 3D printing has come. I believe they can now print special frameworks into which bone and other tissues can grow.I thought you were going to say she 3D printed a new section, Red!
Nothing very new apart from the printer.Me too. It's probably not beyond the realms of possibility considering how far 3D printing has come. I believe they can now print special frameworks into which bone and other tissues can grow.
Not all foreign entities, only those with markers that will get the immune system active, so not neutral parts.Negating the immune system's desire to consume all 'foreign' entities from our system seems to be the golden goose of transplants and - I imagine - synthetic bone.

Hence synthetic bone or titanium which a lot of us motorcyclists have inside.
