4 Piston brembo calipers ?

Hi to all,
Seems my front calipers are both shot. :(
Left has an easy out broken off in one nipple.(not my doing!)
Right, someone has obviously drilled out a seized nipple....& just kept drilling till they hit the cylinder bore!
Being Ceriani forks it seems I can't just buy a new set to suit.
Or am I wrong?

Red, I know you make an adaptor for 4 pot Brembo callipers.
My questions are.
*Will they work on my Ceriani forks
*What is the model of caliper?
*All the gold 4 piston calipers I see on ebay look the same, but are they?
*Also what mastercylinder will I need?
Skye
Ps Here are a couple of pics of progress so far.

You can buy a new set to suit however:-

They will not have threaded mounting holes so you will need to use longer mount bolts and a nuts

They will be single bleed so not identical if you are looking for originality.

Originality doesn't matter so much.
Just looking around at prices 7 seems I could get a second hand set of 4 pistons for a reasonable amount & improve braking performance.
But will keep in mind the single bleed calipers.

Just had a look at Keiths site & answered my question regarding Ceriani mounting  :D

Remember that if you go 4 pot you also really should upgrade to a bigger capacity master cylinder as well to get the benefit of the calipers.

40mm mount Brembo 4 pots is what you want, with a set of Reds wonderful mounts on your Cerianis.  Like this:

The standard Brembo master cylinder (which is a little too big bore for the o/e calipers) will work fine.

Skye,
I'll be home next week so your timing is good.
Will check if I have the Cerani mounts in stock, believe I do.
You need the 40mm spaced 4 pot Brembo's which are the earlier ones.
Don't get the 65mm spaced units, I have not made mounts for them yet.

Let you know.

Skye,
I have several four pot Brembos available at reasonable cost outside of e-bay if you are interested,I have installed them on TOG with Reds excellent adapter brackets, actually that is not a good enough description,
they are just the most beautifulll fit right first time bit of kit, no nasty spacers or washers even the correct bolts in the package, and never mind that they work surpbly, they just look so loverly and sexy!

I retained several pairs of calipers along the way (I was doing some bike breaking/and buying selling) and have got 3 pairs available to sell.contact me on "clemlav@tinyonline.co.uk" if interested

Hey Red, I'll have a pair of those Ceriani conversion mounts as well please.

I just ran through the costings for restoring my F08s and it worked out around $190 each not including the cost of getting the frozen bleed nipple and E-Z Out piece removed from one caliper. Found a dealer in the US who can supply brand new Goldline P3034s for less than that including postage to Oz.

Davo,
Did the US dealer have more than 1 pair?

Got a quote for $400 a pair of used 4 pot brembos today.

Bevel Heaven http://shop.bevelheaven.com/detail.aspx?ID=895

US$338 a pair plus postage ~ $37 to Oz.

I got similar quotes from MC wreckers in Oz last year.

There are cheaper used sets on Ebay UK and USA at the moment but for the price new I couldn't see the point in buying used unseen and taking a risk on their condition.

I bought the following from Bevel Heaven recently.
0795.37.457  38mm Ceriani Fork Cap x 2 $91.00
0795.37.317  Fork Wiper Set - 38mm Ceriani, smooth x 2  $42.79
10.4620.47  16mm REC Brembo Master Cylinder - Front Brake  (Black Lever + Mirror Style Clamp) x 1  $134.00
F08-right  Brake Caliper - Brembo F08 (suit Jota rear) x 1 w/standard pads  $135.00
Brembo F08 Caliper Rebuild Kit Special [black pins] including pistons + dual bleed screw type caliper cover and nipples and hardware and pads x 2 $113.79
Merchandise Total:  $630.37
Shipping:                $56.88
Grand Total:          $687.25

So overhauling the calipers myself for $113.79 seems good value to me.
Local brake place charged me $600 for similar work a couple of years ago on a Guzzi.
And the rear m/c required only a small amount of drill and file work to make the Jota piston actuation lever (that alloy bit with the angled screw) work fine.

That is a good price on the repair kits for the F08s especially as it contains the "unobtainable" twin bleed covers. Still, for the price, I prefer the upgrade to the 4 pots.

I'll put the old F08s in storage and maybe do a rebuild on them don the track in case one of my heirs wishes to take the bike back to stock appearance.

Whilst I was checking out buying 4 pot Brembos it became apparent that some of the new ones advertised on EBay where of Chinese origin hence the competitive price. The seller was based in the Channel Islands. I couldn't comment on the quality, I ended up paying a total of ?82 for a used set from a 916 Ducati from Ebay.

?82 sounds like a fair price for 916 calipers scrumpy, and they are the 40mm bolt spaced ones for which Red has all sorts of adapters ready made, eg standard 280mm disc, 320mm disc, Ceriani, Marzochi etc, etc

I have mislead a few people into thinking that I had some 40mm spaced calipers available, and raised hopes in quite a few areas, sorry about that chaps, i should have looked first,I knew I had 3 sets, and thought that (maybe) 2 of them were the 40's,  what I do have,is 3 pairs of 65mm spaced four piston calipers (ie the later ones) now surplus and going cheap at ?70 per pair,(postage extra)  all of them in good used condition, and complete with (used) pads which at least gets you set up, if not even started.Probably as the 40mm spoaced ones start to dry up,  Red will make adapters for the 65mm bolt spaced ones, but for now he does not.

I actually paid ?70 and the rest was postage and packaging. Prices seem to have risen over the past 12 months, probabaly as you say Clem due to demand.

Having read this I went on to the Bevel site to double check, at ?135 [?80 quid give or take] the complete FO8 calipers sound like a bit of a bargain, in fact I'm going to order a pair! Why pay $113 for a rebuild kit when you can have a complete caliper for another $20, or am I missing something?
I was going to  buy a SH pair of calipers off eBay and recondition them but it now seems pointless :D

Depends how "genuine" you want the look and whether you have Ceriani or Marzocchi forks as these calipers do not have 10mm threaded mounting holes or twin bleed nipples.

I figured that if I was going to change I may as well go for something a bit better, especially as my forks are already off and can easily be swapped to the opposite side when the rebuild starts.
