500 frame

Hello. A question for the 500 lads.
Were there any variations on the standard 500 frame?
I`ve just picked up a Spanish registered 500 of 1978 vintage which has no seat hinge brackets or the seat locking mechanism. It`s possible these have been removed though, if so, it was an incredably neat job as there are`nt any witness marks and the frame does`nt appear to have been re-painted / coated.
It came with no seat and as far as I`m aware, it`s a standard 500 with the normal runing gear.

Would be nice to think so Clem, but sadly it came with standard foot pegs and handlebars etc. It`s possible the last owner retro fitted these I suppose. Will have to have a look inside soon. Neil

The Formulas originally came with a box full of all the standard bits to be retro-fitted when their track career was over, so I'd guess the seat hinges were left on them as well.

The answer is yes.
The seat on my Formula covers the hinges.
