This one nearly passed me by as I had previously thought the victorious ride had been a year later - sorry chaps.
However, it was actually in 1976 that John Watson and Brian Hoyle, in their 981cc powered outfit, blitzed the opposition to win not only the 9 lap, non-championship race, but also the main, 12 lap Sidecar Championship race, and Peel Engineering Trophy, in a new race and lap record time.
Obviously the pair finishing 3rd behind the Laverda powered winning duo were so impressed they were back, at the TT the next year, now also in a Laverda powered outfit.
