668 Zane - Recommandation for replacing starter leads ?

Hi All,

It is probably not the best place to ask a question about Zane bikes .. 🙂

anyway ..

I bought a nice 1998 Zane in France three years ago.
I imported it to Belgium, but I've never used it

It's for sale now and I'd like to get it in good working order for a potential buyer.

A few days ago, being a complete Zane novice, I noticed that the starter was struggling to turn the engine.
After trying repeatedly, it eventually started, but the starter cables got very hot.

Friend and forum member Andy J kindly directed me to the Zanelist Facebook group, where I read the numerous posts on the subject.
He indicated that the starter wiring was problematic and should be replaced with thicker gauge wire.

I bought 16mm² cable with the intention of replacing this darn wiring.

Since the starter looks a dream of accessibility .... I wanted to avoid unnecessary disassembly.

What would be the best path to take ??

Someone among you has probably already walked this path.

All your (positive) recommendations are very welcome.

Thanks a lot
Stéphane
