hi all.. i have a 72 SF and a 99 Strike for sale. i am getting older and need to downsize.

i have had the SF since new (engine has never been out of the frame) and the 99 for over 10 years. Both are in great running condition but are used. The SF is a little scruffy and the 99 has new tires. i have a dual seat and solo seat for the SF and complete body replacement kit for the 99 (blue).

i am asking $6000 usd for the 72 and 3500 usd for the 99. (i think that is very reasonable). let's start a thread and i can provide much more info to anyone serious. the bikes are in Canada - Regina, Saskatchewan (centre of Canada).

ride safe. Doug Durst

You don't look a day over 50 Doug!! Waddaya mean too old?!

Fantastic offer on the SF - so rare to find a bike with a history like yours. GENUINE one owner! good luck with it. Very reasonable prices.

I paid $900 last year to have a Laverda I bought from Colorado shipped to Oregon, and I'm assuming there would be some duties fees involved. And yes, donald's tariffs would probably be an issue now. It's too bad you're not stateside as I've been looking for a decently priced 750. A few have been on CL for crazy prices and did not sell. There's one in CA for $7500 "firm" w/o a title and needs work.

hi.. 72SF number DGM59340M

it has about 46,000 km.. never been dropped but did fall over once. bought it new in sept 73 as a young kid looking to ride something different. loved the bike and rode it.. so, it is a bit scruffy. it was stolen in my first year with it and the guy sprayed black paint over the bike to disguise it. i got the bike back in a couple of weeks but they never found the thief.

the engine has never been out of the frame but i did replace a burnt exhaust valve about 1987. chain is relatively new, sprockets original.

you can charge the battery and go! after a good ride, adjust the brakes, clutch to your liking, replace the tires and go again. it is perfect to ride as is, or restore to original. or do a custom mod (electronic ignition, disc brake, gas shocks??). or build a SFC replica.

comes with a rare dual seat, books, manuals, etc.

i don't want someone to chop it up and sell off the parts. it is just too sweet of a ride ... Doug

Exhaust valve replacement with the motor tipped fwd, Doug  Not technically out of the frame. But it's clearly a fantastic buy, original and VERY low km. I bought my SF1 in early 1975 and it had 19,000 miles (31,000km) on it.

"Exhaust valve replacement with the motor tipped fwd, Doug  Not technically out of the frame."
only two bolts away from beng out of the frame, which I would have done anyway, why make it a struggle, it seems those SF1's did suffer from poor quality of exhaust valves. I know of a few that needed the treatment including my own (bought new) and the brother in law's (bought used, 6 months, 2,000 miles)

my Brother in laws was a 72, small valve SF Piranha-bro2, (so that theory is blown) mine was an 73 SF1 with big valve head. exhaust valves burnt far too early on, they are both different, they both had good clearances, balanced carbs (by me) and strobed ignition (also by me).
the fuel quality was much better in the early 70's as well (still with lead good old 4 star) . around 15,000 miles later the hardened tip of one of those (replaced) exhaust valves broke off, giving a huge clearance, which I didnt understand at the time, but re-adjusted to 8 thou, it ran quite happilly like that for years, and when I did strip the motor, the tip was found in the crankcase and the valve stem had flared a bit, which hindered its removal.

Dodgy metal coming out of the same supplier's factory? My 13768 must have come out after they fixed the issue. My only gripe with valves was the tappet screws pitting and the valve tip going concave. Totally rectified with Rotax adjusters.
