750 carb rebuild

After the 750 I recently bought wouldn’t hold an idle I installed a Dell Orto rebuild kit and replaced all the worn O rings and gaskets. Following a Dell Orto guide helped immensely. Next will be new cables/fuel spigots/ air filter/plugs/cleaned tank. I‘m hoping it will idle after all of that.

I spent some time chasing down a faltering idle issue, after being cleaned and re-built, including the enrichment seals, I checked the weights of both floats which appeared original but sound. One was a couple of grams heavier so changed them. Then the breakthrough was discovering one of the plastic carb inlet spacers had several fractures which were only visible once removed. Cracks were sideways near the bolt hole and inside allowing air around the o'ring seal.

Yes, doing this work on the carbs makes me realize just how important they are to the bike running properly with lots of little parts that need to be in good shape. From what I'm seeing I'm surprised it started at all and glad there's Dell Orto parts still available

Spray some carb cleaner round the intakes/manifolds with it running and see if the engine note changes, that will tell you if you have an air leak
