750 Coil thoughts

With various threads running lately about ignition systems etc, l just wondering what the views are on the original car type coil used on the 750's . Have any folk moved on to something more in keeping with what the triples run with. ? My 750 still has the originals fitted and they were working OK when the bike was last in use, but was thinking maybe switching to a proper bike coil could be a better way to go even if only to tidy up things beneath the tank etc.

Leave them in place as they are totally reliable. I fitted Dyna mini coils when I went to Ignitec mainly to free up space in the frame as I have re-organised things. Nology coils are highly recommended if you really want to swap them out.

Why?
They are a proper bike coil on a bike over half a century old and the do very well.

There is no such thing as a bike coil. They are smaller on a bike usually due not having a lot of room. As there was a lot of room under the 750 tank, Laverda used the big Bosch coils which are superior to what they used on the triples.

Keep the ignition coils you have. They will last forever.

Modern ignition coils being better is mostly marketing BS.

Thanks for the replies, my thinking was they are from the same era as the dynamo, re Vee dub etc. Pretty sure ive read before folk having problems getting hold of replacements because of that. Bike has sat here roughly 4yrs now and ive told myself big push needed this year to get it rolling and it ain't going to get a hard time here because its simply for pleasure, and no longer a pressed into service commute thing bike wise.

...invariably oil filed can coils made with proper ( if not harsh on the environment when discarded, PCB's et al ), materials.

HT lead termination may be a modern parts issue. Magnacor had press in can type termination in SS, at one stage. Ditto their spark plug cover terminations. Top quality. j.
