750 SF 1:9 Project

I received this complete model kit a few weeks ago from a good friend. He has had in the box for approx 30 years and did not assemble it.
He also has 2 Laverdas.
I have made a start and intend to give it a colour scheme the same as my 74 SF2.  "Miss July 2021 calendar Mini me".  The detail
of this "old" model is amazing and great fun to assemble. Looking forward to completing over the next few months, will keep you posted!

I've got one of the same models somewhere in a box along with a 750 sports ducati and MV Agusta. Brought also more than 30 years ago.
Having been a model maker for the best part of my working career though now retired I still can't find the enthusiasm to assemble them.
Maybe one day when I'm bored

Used to LOVE getting model cars and planes like that in my childhood. My fave was a 1960-something Cadillac Couple de Ville. Would love to have the Laverda but like Rob, probably would never find the time to build it - I'm having trouble getting the real thing finished!! Well, that is a tad more involved

I used to like assembling model airplanes as quick as I could using half the parts ..... then lighting them on fire and pretending they were shot down in the Battle of Britain.

None of them survived ...... all gone.

We used make a little town at the top of the garden using those buildings meant for model railways and we would start a little fire among them and fly from our base on the top of the rabbit hutch to the scene dropping little sugar and weedkiller bombs we'd made onto the houses below. It was quite realistic. We had night raids too.
I think we later shot our aircraft models to bits when we discovered air rifles.

When I started restoring and assembling the real 750 after having it in boxes for 37 years, I realized how worthless
it was in pieces, once finished, the satisfaction and joy of using it is immense. When I was gifted this model to assemble
and keep, I went to a local model shop to get some plastic glue, and the shop owner said " That model is very collectible and rare, whatever you
do, Don't put it together it's worth much more in the box."  Funny how we have different values.

try to sell the ready model and then try to sell an unused package. the assembled model - no matter how nicely it was assembled - will not sell higher than maybe 30 bucks. the Box will be way beyond 100, no doubt.

However - if it is fun for you to assemble it and look at the result and enjoy it, that is maybe way more value than the maybe 70 - 100?/$ you could have achieved selling it...

And buy an SFC 750 ... but don't ride it!!! They're worth much more as museum pieces. Fortunately not entirely! I'd just bloody assemble the model and say fuk the collectors!

Many more tedious hours spent on assembling the SF model. Starting to look like the real thing.
A couple more days yet at least, so much detail, will be a cool little static display in the shed when it's finished.
