My 750 arrived w harsh 38mm Ceriani forks which I first changed w new 10 wt at 240 ml. I,m 200 lbs w gear. I switched to 5 wt at 240 ml and now the forks are much better. What,s the standard spring rate for these 38 mm Ceriani,s?
Thanks

From memory, the green book mentions 1.1, I have Race Tech 0.95 springs in my 3c. Again, from memory, that's either the biggest that fit or a firm as Race Tech did when I bought mine. I am 120kgs. Race Tech have a Spring Calculator on the website. You need to search thoroughly; they list Cerani under vintage. It's easy to miss specific details on oddball bikes on their website. Matt, there Vintage expert is a really helpful bloke, solved some issues for me.BTW, the best way to improve your knowledge base on this stuff is to read about it and fiddle till it works, and then you too can get Trolled when you try to help others. Plus, it's fun to get your bike working as well as it can. I also found my 3c insanely firm when I first bought it. It handled great, but was very uncomfortable on rough local roads.

The damper system in standard forks will not work with 5 wt oil and recommended is 200ml which covers the top of the damper with about half an inch. Their main problem is stiction which could well be providing you with damping. pull them apart and find out what is inside before you go ordering things. As Vince says, Racetech has advised spring weights on their website.
