750 SF2 forks

Bit of a random question but does anyone know the distance between the bottom of the lower yoke and say the top of the slide seal dust caps? I keep thinking mine are a bit sunk or short, it was standing for a number of years, they go up and down but it's a bit laboured, new oil etc already in.

My two SF2 have fully extended overall length from axle centre to top of stanchion different on each, the shorter from replacement by importer. 740mm and 765mm according to my notes. At this age the springs are generally well sagged. The weight oil in them also directly affects how responsive they are.
 
On my 750 SFC Cerianis, c/l axle to top of fork yoke/stanchion 740mm. It is sitting on the front wheel on the stand though. Later, I'll remeasure with the front wheel off the ground.
 
Bike on the stand, from the top of the slider to the bottom of the bottom yoke is 17 cm.
I put 15 cm gaiters on my SF2, perfect.

Measured from the bottom of the slider to the top of the stanchion (not the cap), with the front wheel off the ground.
SFs are a helluva lot nose-heavier on the stand, compared to a Triple!

Very true. They certainly don't have that bias old BMs had where if either wheel was removed it would sit on the one that wasn't. It would be difficult to move the centre stand pivot point fwd on an SF because the motor is in the way and there's no underslung frame apart from the cross member.
 
Hi, finally measured my forks, bike leaning on a wall under its own weight, centre of fork spindle to top of top yoke is 720mm

I'm thinking that's why I can't get it on its main stand, so they seem to be a bit knackered and the compression is hard but ok but the rebound is just stiff as can be

Might be a combination of saccing springs and a stuck damper piston. My SF2 is quite easy to get on to the centre stand. Haven't tried it from the seat, yet, but it feels do-able.
 
I could put my SF2 on the centre stand while sitting on the seat. 720mm seem short. Can you measure the stanchion length? would require dropping the fork leg but it probably need new oil anyway.
