750 SFC Headlamp unit

Wow Rob, this is something I didn't know, looking at pics of the US spec SFC the headlight unit indeed looks quite different. Any idea what make it was? Surely must be due to stateside regulations.

Mark it in your diaries folks, 25th of November 2010.

Someone taught Marnix something about SFC's!  :o

In exactly 100% of the 152,806 previous instances over the last 20 years it has been the other way.

:D :D

Marnix, don't remember what make it was, but it was a cheap shit sealed beam unit. Replaced a few times cause of stone chips. Currently fitted is a Cibie unit, also stone chiped so need to replace. It also turns around in the housing from vibration so have to add duck tape behind to pack it out. Would love to fit an original. Did a google search and found a Carrillo unit for Alfas from that early 70s era, but wasn't sure if the correct unit. Also found the clamping ring 19quid and the light unit was 28quid. If it's the correct one it's not that expensive. Can you let me know of any part/model numbers that I can quote to make sure it's correct before buying. I was under the impression that they were no longer available.

Keith, don't worry about the cake, but a nice single malt wouldn't go astray :D

Cheers

Dont know about SFC's but old Hondas for the USA market had sealed beam headlamps
(to comply with regulations apparently) whilst the European market bikes used bulb type lamps.

:D  :D :D Learning new things about SFCs is not as unusual as you guys think..

The Carello unit has part number 03.485.700 as Gert stated. Be aware that it has a metal cap inside the unit that will come loose with vibration. If not noted in time, it will damage the mirror badly. Best to remove it as matter of precaution.
