750 side stand mod

After the bike toppled over from a too upright side stand, I reduced the length if it by .5", which now allows a bit more stable lean. Next mod would be to make the stand angle forward a touch from the side profile so that it won't topple over forward- it's too much of a 90 degree angle in true Ducati fashion. I guess they want their bikes to fall over! I realize the centerstand is more stable, but there's times when a side stand is more convenient to use.

Will vary depending on tyre aspect size ratio. Any mods that improve it are good mods. I made the SFQ centrestand height-adjustable and recently changed how far it travels beyond vertical before it hits the stops. Less 'overarc' angle means it's easier to get off the stand. Height is what affects the ease ro otherwise of getting it on the stand.

I don't have a side stand - did away with it when I fitted a factory 2/1 about 40 years ago - never felt it was an issue using the centrestand only, but since getting the Q going (and stopping!! ) I am VERY careful when getting it onto the stand. Doesn't feel as easy as it used to - age? Dunno. But I would definitely like a sidestand at times.

Is your sidestand original ?
I have 0 problems with mine.

Good point Paul- I meant to mention that the seller bought a new one from Wolfgang, which might explain the issue. It's also got newish Shinko tires that may have a taller profile bit I'll check.

The front Shinkos are 100/90 18“ 56H and the back are 110/90 18” 61H. Looked at the Green Book and hard to say if these are taller than OEM which might affect this side stand

Yes, that looks about right- mine is now leaning the same angle- it was bolt upright before and ready to topple over w/ the lightest touch. I found out just how heavy these are. Very nice SF BTW and I also like the cast wheels on the other one.

The original 750 sidestand was usually pretty good. Changing the suspension is the most common reason for issues like you describe. I lowered Christiane's RGS to make it a bit easier for her to ride, used 750-spec rear shocks and dropped the forks a little, then had to modify both stands to get it all working nicely again.

The other one is my wifes 500.
