750 VHB Float Heights

An interesting topic on the 1200 float heights suggesting setting to fuel cut-off point in situ.
Initially, I set my new VHB's to 23.5 to 24.5 mm with the carbs inverted on the table (as per the green bible).
May well get different results with the carbs in situ and using the actual fuel cut-off set with a credit card cut to 24.0mm.
Is this what is recomended?

The VHB float valves do not have a sprung plunger, doesn't matter in which plane they are set.  Only deviation can/will be through the play of the float on its fulcrum pin, which is negligable.  Dellorto quotes 24mm.
