750SF2 rearset mount options and position

I’m not loving the riding position of my SF2 – legs too high and forward. I'm T.F.O for that. Looks like rearset kits are mostly not available atm (except one EU source for large $$) and those triangle mounting plates are similarly scarce or mega $$. So I might have to improvise. I’ve ordered some tarozzi pegs (black/rubber as most places are sold out of alloy ones). Now looking at options to mount them.

From searching and googling, there appears a couple of options.

1. The usual triangular alloy frame plates (pic 1) that mount the pegs somewhere inside that triangle. I could fabricate something similar but they still look high - higher than the stock pegs. Lower would be better...

2. Another option seen is a bar or plate mounted to the frame’s serrated foot peg lugs (pic 2). I see some variations further anchor this to an extended swingarm bolt or possibly down to the centre stand bolt (pic 3?). Looks ok on the right and could mount a peg below the triangle. But harder on the left due to the frame lug for the brake lever stop which I’d rather not cut off. And worse if I want to use the extra brake lever arm (as in pic 1). And still harder if I want the pegs lower - below the triangle.

So –
  • does anyone mount their rearset pegs below the triangle? Or why not? (this is a road bike)
  • is using a bar or plate mounted to the serrated foot peg lugs ‘good’ /strong enough?
  • How do people manage the bar/plate approach on the left-hand side, especially if they want to not grind off the brake stop lug. Any pics?
Thanks!

(PS the pics are from this forum - not observed in the wild)

When I was 21-22 and poor I just pivoted my original SF1 pegs back on the serrations, shortened the std brake lever (cut and shut) and fitted a steel L bracket to the swingarm pivot bolt with a bit of threaded bar welded to it so I could mount a modified gear lever to it. You could probably do something similar and make the gear setup more elegant than I did, but not sure it'll give you lower pegs.

Maybe you could modify std triple pegs (3C) - they had a much shorter distance from bolt to peg, so would be lower on an SF. And do some mod to pivot your levers off them? That way you'd retain all your orig bracketry. Be aware that mounting pegs off alloy plate won't give you the vibration free benefits of the solid SF or triple pegs.

If you’re pretty handy in the workshop, a set of plates for the triangle could be fabricated similar to RGS setup so you could adjust to your hearts desire.

The round section would need to be offset in the plates because the triangle isn’t perpendicular to the line of the frame.
