Hi people I am hoping someone can help with the diode size / type for my 1976 3cl. The schematic just shows the diode in the park/ tail light circuit with no valve given any help appreciated.

3 Amp, would work, if incandescent lamps, inrush current will be up to 6 times the normal current. 3 Amp silicone diode will stand that inrush. For current divide the lamp wattage by the nominal voltage, ie 22W lamp divided by 12V a little under 2 amps. HTH j

The original diode was encapsulated with Mr faston connections, ( 6,3m/m ), from memory, may need to fabricate a workalike, maybe an old style dual tunnel terminal strip, diode connected one side of the tunnels, incoming outgoing harness fly wires 'tother side. Only there for the ignition switch parking light position to prevent the actual ignition being also armed. If you never use the parking light position you will never need the diode.

Nothing to prevent using higher rating diode, what ever you can source local, need a flylead radial diode, not a SMD ( surface mount device, no lead wires ) HTH j
