To mark the occasion, we had an 8 hour documentary on M Ali by Ken Burns which I thoroughly enjoyed. I found the background fascinating and the film very well done. And I was never a boxing fan...

The point is, considering the average age of the forum members, many of us have
grown up with him. Seeing his fights in tv , depending on the country, in the middle of the
night, when there was no regular porogramm.
This might bring back memories...

I remember a teacher rolling a TV into class at OPHS and all of us watching the live telecast of Ali v. Frazier, one of the best english lessons ever! Wonder what the excuse was that the headmaster got for the use of the TV... ;)

We listened to that fight at a high school swimming carnival, on a Tranny. And that's not what you might think. Times change and language as well.
 
I remember the Norman Gunston interview with Ali. Funny as. Ali didn’t know WTF was going on or who this dickhead Gunston was.
By way of explanation to non Australians, Norman Gunston was a character played by an Aussie comedian. He’d do TV interviews with people who thought he was a real journalist and he’d ask really dumb questions.
