A Cautionary Tale From the Colonies....&^%^#* MoneyGram

This is a tale involving buying some 3D printed SFC1000 bits from the U.K. The vendor doesn't mail to N. America.
Thats not too unusual these days as there are work-arounds. Our good mate/bloke/chap/boffin "The Sock" AKA
Hamish R. offered to assist. Now onto the payment method..very difficult these days I find out. MoneyGram seems
to be one of those internet high profile sources for international money transfer. That is until you send money from
here via the Canadian Post Office and the funds being sent to the U.K. For all of GREAT BRITAIN there seems to be
only a small handful of MoneyGram agents able to negotiate fund transfers. Absolutely unbelievable and their service
dealing with Hamish lousy. So anyone on this side of the Atlantic maybe factor in the difficulty in doing business and
paying for goods without totally investigating how to accomplish their goal. Anyone who can relate their problems
might save someone here running into the same thing. Lord knows I have already tried dealing with a non-Laverda
supplier in The Netherlands. Comments please.

I buy a lot of parts from overseas suppliers and also sell a lot of parts overseas
Wise.com is by far my preferred method to send and receive funds Internationally
Their Exchange rates and Bank charges are a fraction of the cost of Paypal or traditional Banks

Setting up an account with them is straightforward with everything done online

Another vote for Wise - has been easy even for internet dummy like me - recently paid euros in Italy , Thai baht in Thailand and NZ dollars in NZ with no issues - was recommended Wise by our very own webmaster on here 😉

Thanks Adam...can't understand why our friend in BC hadn't come across Wise. As Red says, easy to set up online. Quick, reliable and cheap in my experience over 7 years now.

Rob: Yes,Wolfgang Haerter told me about WISE last year but I had no instance to try it. I was introduced to
MoneyGram and used it once to be paid and collected at the Post Office. My naivete about the Internet
arena is limited by choice as I have never owned a cell phone or that beyond moronic confusion that is
"social media" which is beyond my conception of mid double digit I.Q. I do use a laptop which I have some
competency with but very rudimentary. I will be using WISE after your recommendations...after all I trust all
you analogue vintage(?) motor-bicycle riders/enthusiasts.

Wise.com is excellent, but it doesn't work instantaneously, ie, might take a few hours or up to a day until funds are transferred. For trustworthy trading partners, as there is no buyer protection, Paypal Friends & Family goes through in a matter of seconds worldwide and is even easier to use, with only minimal fees for the sender.

And if you're a buyer from someone you DON'T know: Just shell out for the couple of extra bucks and pay the sellers share of the commercial paypal fee - gives you fraud protection...

As a seller DO NOT EVER go on a payment site you don't personally know - my business partner (usually a smart guy) just got swindled out of €4000 SELLING stuff online.
