Hi Guys,

What is the general consensus regarding the use of the airbox baffle plate within the Jota airbox (Eurospec) it obviously offers a restriction but what are the pros and cons of using it or removing it and what effect removing it might have if any on the jetting requirements of the carbs.

Happy for your thoughts and imput on this please, thanks

Steve

Was fitted purely to reduce noise.
Throw it the fuck away.
Should be 2 holes left in upper airbox so block them off with 2 x M5 nuts and bolts.
Check what needles are installed, might be K14 or some crap.
Throw them the fuck away too and fit K1 needles.
Needles wear out anyway.
I would fit new pilot jets and main jets while I was at it. For a Euro spec Jota I would fit 55 pilots and 125 to 130 mains.
For a proper job I would fit new AB265 emulsion tubes and new float valves.
Job's a good 'un.

I've never seen a baffle plate in the airbox, just a filter in the middle of the box. Don't recall seeing any redundant bolt holes either. I guess the baffle plate wasn't installed on bikes exported to Australian.

I only ever saw it in early 1200s in the UK, but seems common in Spain for example.

1970's and 1980's jetting does not work for the 2010's and definitely not for the 2020's
my umpteen dyno runs prove that, am currently on K24's and going to the dyno shop again to see what that does.

Thanks Grant,....Now you are sure about that now  :D.........That's the answer i was expecting but the way you said it did made me laugh.

Thanks for the extra info on the needles etc, that's exactly the information i was hoping for and i will look into what is fitted to my carbs.

I am sure I have 50 pilots and 110 mains and suspected that was lean.

i will let you know.

Thanks, Steve

Here's a picture for you Dellortoman  (thumbup)

The two fixing holes are on the top surface of the airbox and are not shown in this Photo.
