air filter housing Gt

I just swapped engines so the #s match. (Reincarnated Head) The rubber sleeve between carb & air filter housing on the left does not line up. Right fits like a glove. Tried loosening the housing to no avail. Sleeves too high. Guess I have to improvise if no one has answers.
Then the wire tips that meet the points plate have a slight solder to keep them from pinching off @ the spring fit. I have tried to solder the tips on new wires. Taking time & going over again and again. Not getting anywhere for a decent tip to fit the eye. Got blobs of solder & then fraying. Any answers? Could I just wrap wire tips w/ Foil?

Just stick the end of the wire into the points spring as it is, it'll be largely sufficient. Otherwise, if the copper is badly corroded, apart from cutting the wire back, you can change the whole thing. It just goes from the coil to the point, one either side.
For your airbox, just adjust it with a washer or two on its mounting, or bend the mounting tab by applying some force.
Junk that screw clip, it's ugly and the system never was airtight, on any Laverda.
