Hi all knowing ones.
My 500cc bike is turning over sluggish and drawing too much power when firing the bike up.
It still works, but not spinning the engine over as well as it should. So need to get the starter off, strip it down and give it a good clean and check over.
I've removed the plastic cover, disconnected the lead and removed the sprocket cover, there are two Allen bolts visible, one is fitted from the sprocket cover side with a bolt on the starter motor side of the crankcase, the other from the starter motor side into the crankcase.
What I don't know, is whether the Allen bolt enters the crankcase from the starter side, is screwed into a nut or threaded into the crankcase, the workshop manual does not say that I need the remove the right side starter clutch cover to remove the starter, I can't remember if there is oil inside that cover, and would rather not find out unless it's totally necessary.
Any one done this recently
