Alpino Red Line

The red line on my Alpino dials is from 8000rpm - its very willing to get there but out of mechanical sympathy am not too keen to go into it. That said I have seen some data that implies up to 9500rpm (or above) may be safe. Any guidance on what is OK? Its not that I would have any intent of regularly making full use of the limit but would be nice to know.

You can if all is well encroach into the red line without any risk on your 500.
Racers regularly go above that.

It?s when you regularly take it above 10000 you need to start worrying about your rods, let alone the valve springs...

Hi Rob, I set the Sachse ignition on my race bike to 9,000 and it is fine at that. I have run at a 9,500 limit before but the Dyno man shows me that there's no benefit in doing that (less power) and so I set gearing to suit.
