I harbour an irrational desire to build an American Eagle Kneivel replica. I can't explain it, I just do. But then I suppose I'd need the leathers and a cape.

I had the same desire of you for a long time (and still have it...).
It's not so irrational to be fascinated by a great character like Eve and his bikes ,too.
Somebody did it with good replicas, both for use in jumping as for show only.
On this forum there is another thread with some pics and you can also find the main Knievel "alter ego" Facebook profile in which is showed the Evel's bike replica work in progress.

Yes, many tanks, I remember Re (which could be from Italian origins) but cannot remember the name, was in doubt was Louis but not sure about....and have only a few time to search the right thread in which Louis Rocket Re was mentioned,

The Evel's bike replica made by Louis is awesome )exactly the same ad the original one was) ...and the jump he did with a standard Laverda was great!
