An Exceptional video

My friend owned a 71/72 Ducati 750SS. We raced a lot on the Moose Mountain HWY. He could not beat my 70 Breganzie 750 SF ;o)

He could out corner me at times but on acceleration and the top end the SF won.

By the end of a 40 mile race (There and Back) we were never much more then 5 to 10 bikes apart and I was in front at the end. Maybe because I weighted 140 lbs and he weighed 170 lbs - LOL.

His Duke was an absolutely beautiful ride - I miss them days.

The Ducati 750 Super Sport was the first of it’s kind. A factory race bike that the public could buy.

I beg to differ Jim - It was the 69 Breganzie 750S followed by the 70 750FS ;o)

The Norton Commando was in there to.

There was nothing like the sound of a couple of Italian Cafe Twins leaving or approaching a town compared to Japanese bikes of the time.

This is the road we raced - Just follow the course and you will understand why this has to one of the most demanding road motorcycle race courses ever - The Moose Mountain Road - Just chase the ">" ;o)

Motorcyclists came from all over to my home town to test themselves on this road - Of coarse I had the home town advantage ;o)

Why do American motorcyclists trek to the North Shore of the Great Lakes and Northern Ontario to test their skills ?

That's the type of road I raced against my friends Ducati 750SS and just about any other motorcycle and I always won with my 70 750SF because I made sure my SF was in TOP Condition and I practiced hard. I was much younger then ;o)

As I said earlier, I would like see your practice road courses ;o)

In Spain! Not your or my local motorcycle practice road Crisk ;o)

There's a difference between a major HWY where you have to keep the speed limit compared to SHIT that happens on your local back roads.

Buy the way I doubt a Ducati 750SS could do 130 mph , maybe 118 (120 tops); however, I know my SF could do121 mph + on the Top End going down hill with a tail wind - The thing was I could hit top speed faster then the Ducati ;o)

But then it may amount to the weight of the rider with equal skills - Both bikes are just about equal in my opinion.

Just saying it was the Ducati 750SS that gave me the most gratifying experience to race against on the Moose Mountain Road.

A video for people with Ducati tattoos. They weren't any better quality than a 750GT or Sport, ate bigends valve guides and pistons just the same. Good that this bloke rides it though.

Reminds me of a friend and his Ducati. He had bought her in the 70s and still owns and rides it today. He had made his effort to create a private video at that time! It was probably tricky to assemble the film camera on the motorcycle. Some difference to the video with Keith Hale. ;) I hope you enjoy it.


Here a recent photo I took of him with that Ducati, he still likes the blue outfit :)

Loved it, great sound track as well. That ribbed front tyre send a shudder through me for some odd reason.

We are not professional filmmakers, but it was a lot of fun to shoot the actual film for the DVD.

The main film is shot more calmly and without words.
We wanted to show how nice it is, to move 5 old Laverdas on the street appropriately.

We had several feedbacks that Laverdisti startet their long time „frozen“ Projects after whatching the film - that was our target.

Ron, your friend could not have had a 71/72 750SS as this model did not exist yet. They were only made in 1974.

In 1971 the 750GT was available and the 750 Sport in 1972. In late 1974 the square case 860 came out.

I remember my older brother looking at a 750SS for sale. The dealer could not give it away at $1500. My bother could not afford it so bought a Kawasaki H1 instead. I was lusting after a drum brake 750SFC but could not afford it either. I think it was $1200 ??????
