An extra hole......

Whilst cleaning out the three carbs on the SFC I note that one the them has an extra hole in it. This is the right hand one which interestingly is the cylinder that always runs rich. Is this hole supposed to be there? The other two are similar although the single hole on one is on the right hand side and the other the left. Seems odd.

Put some gentle compressed air into it and see where it goes

The hole is used for the idle jet.

It is not unnormal if there are unused drilled holes which are closed outside or inside on a carburator.

Sometimes the way of production changes and you have different results at the same type of carburator.
