I thought I'd post this on here, to maintain the connection with Andy. I hope he's looking down and approves.
I didn't know Andy, and I think I only met him the once, perhaps at Stafford, when I was ambling around and passed the Laverda display.
He was undoubtedly a memorable and very knowledgeable character.
Earlier this year, Malcolm Cox kindly put me in touch with the lovely Benny.
At the end of October, I am pleased to say that I became the proud custodian of Andy's Mirage.
Whilst I've always been biking, it's been a long while since I last had a Laverda, my last being the Corsa, which I sold in 1996.
Before that, I'd had quite a few and did quite a bit of endurance racing with different frames carrying various 1200 engines.
So now to own a lovely green Mirage that I can add to my collection and ride - is indeed a bit of a tick in the box.
The fact that it belonged to Andy Holbrook, a fellow Laverda enthusiast (fanatic?), is a real bonus.
Thanks, Benny - I'll look after it.
