My 3c and I were in a Toyota ad sometime in the late 90s, it was the series of Totota ads that futures a Puppet Yellow Chicken. Don't ask me why, that is from the Creatives. I was having a day off and I got a call from a mate who did what they call Stand By Props for Commercials, he supplied STUFF. His older brother is a big-time Armour in the Film industry and his younger brother picked up work from him. Apparently, the bike they were going to use dropped out and would I like to make $200 cash for a couple of hours work supplying and riding my bike, sure why not. So it was in a studio in the back of Chatswood and I needed to ride down the driveway on Que and dodge the puppet Chicken and ride away, easy Ha. Well, it was drizzling and they needed to time about 10 events that happened while filming down to the second. So that meant about 70 takes. Up and back and up and back for about 2 Flippen hours till I was thinking my clutch was getting hotter and hotter. It was an absolute pain in the arse. The next shot needed some scenery moved, they had a Dumy tree about 400mm thick that was in the way of the camera, this was where it got really dumb. This dumy tree was actually a cut-down 400mm thick gum tree about 3m tall and it must have weighed a couple of tons, so they started to use the Gantry Crain to move this vertical unbalanced log and they had no clue how to rig or sling this thing, it was swinging about in a crazy dangerous way. So I ended up giving them a hand to even up the double slings. There was not much practicality on view. It ended up far from interesting or glamorous. Hard way to make $200. I gave him a hand on a couple of other ads but it was not for me. Far to many wankers
