Hi, Ive just taken my clamp style carbs of to try and fix an intake air leak, how are these meant to seal with no seal? I caught it with my lever and heard a little crack of doom. Im going to the Laverda meet on the 4th, shame if this little article stops me. If anyone has one or can point me to one I would appreciate it. The book is showing 'flange, part number 37 412 000' Any tips on sealing a leak here also appreciated. Gen 1 1200. Thanks in advace. UK based

If it has the original inlet manifolds, they have a plastic sleeve on the manifold where the carbs slide on.

92 on the diagram, Part No. 55290015 Sealing Ring

Thorne Engineering show them as in stock:

That's annoying.......ideally you want to replace the broken part with a new/second hand part that hopefully someone on here might have knocking around?......the only way you may be able to seal it is to remove the flange and then the gear drive from it and make up a blanking plate which could go in its place or as an addition to,along with a gasket.

Your teeth shouldn't leave any marks.
They're very hard. It's an inteference fit, nothing to do them being supple.

They were damn tight to get off. I did consider removing the manifolds from the head then stripping on the bench but I dont have any gaskets to re-seal before next weekend

Only 1 in stock unfortunately
If yours look to be in good shape I would clean them up and re use them , they can be difficult to slide off the manifolds sometimes if they haven’t been off for a while.
Using a small amount of lube on the manifolds prior to fitting them does help.
Sure I read somewhere about loosening the carb mounting plate slightly helps to guide them on too 🤔

Regarding the blanking plate,I did wonder last night whether the tacho drive plate was a sealed drive anyway otherwise the tacho cable would fill up with oil 🤔?
Does depend on the amount of damage caused to your though.
