April

I must learn how to turn that off, its the last top speed, i think ( presumably the car park) Piet 😄
Yes, probably a good idea. I remember getting back to an Aprilia dealer near Fleetwood back in the late 90’s having taken their new RSV demo bike for a spin. The guy checked the bike over when we got back, including various read outs that I wasn’t aware were available. He got to the one that recorded maximum speed and said, ‘I think we better clear that one’. I seem to recall it was north of twice the national speed limit. 🤫
BTW, would the read out be admissible evidence in the event the cops stop you?

Cops do it to trucks in Australia, they download and give out a suitable award 🥇

Never happened to me, but a mate got done for 16klm over 100.

I told him that they’d need a warrant to do that ….. but I’m not a legal eagle.

I recall travelling the Newell at night back in the early 80s Chris, and the pre-B-double semis would routinely overtake at 140+ on the flats - you'd catch and pass them on a long uphill, then back past they'd come. There was obviously a good CB communication system in operation that kept the hyperspeed trucks out of the eye of Mr Plod. Cowboy times on the road - big diff these days!

Been doing a fair bit of Sesame Street (Sydney/Melbourne/Sydney) almost radio silence these days 😡. Was once a time you’d know where the cops were 200klms away via radio…. now it’s mostly all quiet unless same company drivers see each other.

100klm speed limiters have put a stop to fast trucks, these days if someone overtakes you at, say 103 they’ve got a fast truck! The fines for doctoring speed limiters are in the $25k mark…. not worth it. Point to point cameras fuck you in the arse anyway.

I’ve hit 117 in this one, downhill in angel gear (neutral) but that’d show up if downloaded.

Have picked the truck up from being serviced and been told “Who’s been a naughty boy then” My response “Did you clear it?”

Chris, have you been on the 2 roads in NSW that are now Point to Point for all Vehicals, a section of the Hume and the Pacific? Have they signposted it to warn non-heavy vehicles that the cameras apply to all yet? Keen to know, be easy to miss if the signage is poor
    • Pacific Highway: Between Kew and Lake Innes (Port Macquarie).
    • Hume Highway: Between Coolac and Gundaga

Hair splitting... :ROFLMAO:

Bloody good effort no matter how you view it! Reckon an improvement could be gained with a more aerodynamic tail, old Aprilia RS250?

Good call Piet. I think the SFC tail is a bit like an inverted bucket, even though ive put a floor in mine for sandwich space.

I might do it despite the effort because i can move backward which might give me more space to get flat. The current seat is perfect for the track and sprinting, not Rollie Free antics.

I do hope you have orange Speedos... or golden/Flash Gordon to match the bike! :ROFLMAO:

I suppose hiding the bike behind a set of streamlined bodywork would assist in obtaining a higher speed, but would it then defeat the object of having a bike that is easily recognisable as a Laverda doing 160mph? 🤔

Dust Bin fairing over the front wheel, but ending to see the engine, no idea how you might mount it, but it would look bloody cool.

Haha, then someone'll say its not a LAVERDA 🤣 .
If you knew the hundred hours i spent getting that fairing to fit, modifying, making fiberglass you'll know its staying for full throttle events.
