What was the date of that article?
MCN...Jan 1995.......when I say suffocated at birth it`s my way of saying that things never progressed beyond 1978 for the V6.....( this planned limited run in `95 came to nothing )........
Now that Kawasaki have a controlling stake in Bimota I seem to recall that Kawasaki were interested in gaining a foothold in the specialist motorcycle market in Europe as far back as the early `eighties by acquiring ailing Moto Laverda.....not sure what stage discussions reached but seem to recall reports that whilst Piero was keen for this to go through , Massimo was certainly against it..... ( may be wrong on this but seem to remember something along these lines.... )...
Also about the mid `nineties plan to produce a limited run of V6`s....this obviously came to nothing , but was there maybe at least one assembled for show purposes ...?....
Never been quite sure how all the V6`s totalled up...
The first two were the one raced at the `Bol which Massimo kept , and Piero now has ( and is now on display at the museum in Italy ? )....then the second one mentioned above as being mothballed at the Zane factory ( in 1995 ) , but was there then another " empty case " bike assembled at the same time as these two , for show / display purposes only ...?...
Then there was the Cor Dees bike , plus was he working on a second bike as well ...?...
And then there is the possibility of another V6 being put together for the purposes of the 1995 limited run which never happened ... ?....or maybe they used the V6 which was mothballed at Zane for publicity purposes instead .....this appears to be modified with twin shocks as was the `Bol bike .
I think it was around this tine the Shenken ( ? ) Corporation in Japan were also interested in acquiring Laverda , or if I recall more interested in acquiring the Laverda name only , for marketing / promotion purposes...
I believe the idea was to market a limited number of Toyota V12 sport / racing cars in Japan and sell them as Laverdas , and then using the publicity and interest generated by this to launch a whole range of Laverda badged products such as watches ; phones ; socks ; hair gel or whatever off the back of the Laverda sports car sales .......
