Tim Parker criticises ..... John Fairclough answers back ........

BTW ... anyone in the USA ever spotted one of Dave Minton`s " trail - equiped SFC`s " ... ? .......... the mind , it begins to boggle ............ Judging by his use of inverted commas , John Fairclough is a little confused as well ...........

Collington Works 1982 .......Montjuic Speciale nearest camera , when JPS black and gold was all the rage ......

Roger on the left , then Chalky ( Ray Whittaker I think ? ) ...... Richard on the right ..... I expect many out there can name the other two ... ? .....

Invoice for engine rebuild of *1200*1637* .......at 112968 miles ...... was on my way down to Plymouth from Bristol , only a couple of miles in when felt a rythmic vibration through the footrests ......felt like a tight spot in an overtightened drive chain , but it was there at tickover as well .....turned around and headed upto Collington ...... Richard identified it as an inner main on the way out ..... rode back to Bristol and Richard picked it up about a week later .......had everything that needed doing done .
Apart from a top end refresh at 170,000 miles ( first oversize pistons from Richard , measuring and matching to cylinder bores by Steve Riley at Piston Broke in Bristol , re-assembly by me ) , it was still going strong 115,000 miles later ( 228,000 miles in total ....... Good bikes aren`t they ? ......... ) .........

I have sat on the one that is available for such at the entrance to the NMM in Birmingham, it does feel a queer thing, I would love to have a go in it or something similar.
CLEM

I went to school with a guy called Paul Blezard I believe he was well into this FF stuff - I think he wrote for Bike mag sometimes

The thing with the Economobile ( I think that`s how it`s spelt ) is that I always wondered what would happen if you had to perform an emergency stop and didn`t have time to put the wheels down .... well actually I think I do know what would happen .....

I didn`t realise how many FF`s were around .... I believe the Voyager was due to be produced at a washing machine factory in South Wales ...... not sure how many were eventually made , maybe they ran out of Reliant engines .....

In a Bike magazine article Royce Creasy remarked about a trip from Cheltenham back to Bristol on a Quasar saying he couldn`t think of a machine he would rather make the journey on , with the exception of the Laverda Jota .....

I thought I had posted a pic of Creasy on ( or in ) a Quasar , but can`t seem to find it ........ Found it ... #144 in " the ugliest bike " .....not that it is , it was a follow on from a discussion about the Diavel .......
