Anyone else here a fan? I’ve read all of them twice and now am listening, for the second time, to the late great British actor Patrick Tull’s reading of them every day on my morning walks. Here is a link to an article that tries to explain why the movie Master and Commander is so popular with men in their thirties today.

Yep. Have read most of them I think and loved the film. Had not realised it now has a cult status. Also at one time was hooked on Alexander Kent and the Bolitho series.

Yes - read them all in one sweep a few years back. They are exceptional in my view, not necessarily the easiest to get into initially but once over that hump most are excellent stories in themselves. I know a good number of people who've read all, or most, and some who have read many through a second time. The combination of characters, their relationships, the variety of storylines, the nautical accuracy, all set in an historically accurate and interesting period makes for rewarding reading.
