Hi all, I am looking to source or temporarily loan these 4 issues of Australian Motorcycle News:
  • Nov 1982 - Vol 32 No10
  • Nov 1982 - Vol 32 No11
  • Oct 1983 - Vol 33 No8
  • Nov 1983 - Vol 33 No11
Hopefully someone has these, Cheers Scott

No luck with the publishers, Scott?

I used to work at Lonely Planet with one of the previous senior editors/publishers, Rob Van Driesum, but doubt he'd be able to help these days (and I haven't seen him for 20 years!).

No Maurice, unfortunately AMCN moved offices a few times and their magazines portfolio did not survive.
I have from 1982 to 1990 apart from these few and I suspect they have race results I'm missing.
As I've been doing the research I have scanned anything Laverda from AMCN, REV's and will do Two Wheels as well.

Calvin and Hobbes are my favorite, the only reason I buy the Sunday paper is for the TV guide and Calvin and his mate.
Ogri's got to be the best motorcycle cartoon character IMHO though.

Hmmm, thought you wanted to complete your collection of Fred Gassit cartoons.
Having read / flicked through 10yrs of AMCN over the last few months I have found Fred's view of the world interesting and probably not that PC by todays standards. Wow, how things have changed but I have had a good laugh.

Quentin, actually, Scott! The other half of the infamous piranha brothers :cool:

Maurice is mauricejota7604 on here. No drama - just correcting!

Rob van Driesum lent/gave me an entire magazine of Fred Gassits - still got it! Totally un-PC for sure, but hilarious. Ya kahn!!

Ops, sorry Quentin. btw do you know where I may find a set of original Jota rearsets?

I'd post in Wanted on here, Scott. Someone will know the best place to look if they can't help you themselves.

Also try Wolfgang in Canada or Andy Wagner's Laverda Paradies in Germany.

I bought a genuine Jota shift lever from Wolfgang but he did say they are very rare. Plenty of Tarozzi versions around.

Hey Scott, they are extremely hard to come by, they do pop up every now and then but are
Usually hoovered up before you can blink.

Hey Scott, have you tried getting in touch with Jim Scaysbrook..? Old bike etc. He is a Laverda tragic, but I would think you would need to give him specific questions about results you seek. He is a busy man, but has kept awesome records over the years.

Yes, Jim's on the case and I am sure he's going to be very helpful. Once he's free of the current issue I expect he will be able to loan the few mag's am missing to see if there is anything of note.
