Avon RoadRider MKII 4.00x18

Old ones used to split the carcass down the centre, mark2 might be better but I wouldn?t trust it. Keep an eye on it.  How does the 4 inch profile differ to the 120/90-18 we run?

I used TT100 back in the day (1980's) and loved them, recently I bought more of the same as stocks of my preferred tyre were unobtainable, it rode like shit and I couldn't get them off fast enough, sorry to have to say, all of this on TOG. (1980 1200TS)

You can look it up in the Avon tyre guide https://www.avontyres.com/en-us/tyre-care/avon-tyres-moto-guide-2019-us-lr.PDF

4" version is a bit narrower and has a higher aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is not stated for the 4.00-18, but looks like about 100% from the dimensions, so probably has a pointier profile than the 120 tyres.

OK Marty you lazy bugger, I've done the looking up for you. Here are the actual widths and diameters and load ratings:

4.00-18  116mm wide, 671mm dia. 280kg load rating
120/80-18  120mm wide, 652mm dia. 265kg load rating
120/90-18  127mm wide, 675mm dia. 290kg load rating

All have "V" speed rating (240kph)

Same experience here too Clem. TT100s were great. Not any more. Felt like a flat truck tire. I still have one near new in the basement.

I rode a triple last week with TT100s fitted.
Other than a slight lightness over lines in the road it handled well and really felt good when banked over.
200 miles of endless twisties.

My bro put TT100's on his 3C and thought they were OK. I haven't used one for donkey's years but might give 'em a try if I live long enough to wear out the spare Bridgestones I have on the shelf.

Oops that"ll teach me for being a lazy reader! thanks for that  :D, meet Blue Anchor week sunday changing the subject  :D :D :D

?Twas a Roadrunner that delaminated on me on high speed run from Sydney to Adelaide around 1980 on my GS1000S.  Never fitted an Avon again.
