Back Brake

For reasons too distressing to go into right now, I find myself having to replace the Brembo P8 caliper on the back brake of my '79 1200. The original was a 2 nipple unit. I can buy a single nipple caliper. Should it fit ok and is it ok to replace it with that or will it create problems? Thanks

Surely no problems because of having only 1 nipple.
But check if the original one has threads in the fastening holes.
If they're needed and your replacement one doesn't have them,
you can use time-serts.

Thanks Ernesto. I don't actually have the original to match up to. I sent it off to a company called XXXXXXXXX in XXXXXXX for a refurb and they've not returned it and they are not replying to emails or answering their phone. I don't know the reason and I can't go there (they've got my back brake.) Can't wait forever so I have to buy one.

As I haven't worked on a back disc brake before, I don't know.
Take a look at the brake stay. If it has threads, the caliper doesn't
have them. If not, it has them.
Seem to be real a**holes.

I’m thinking the twin nipple job is hard to find, someone wanted one as much as you.

If that’s the case, they’re pricks.
Hi, the rear brake hanger is threaded not the caliper, single will be OK but if your buying second hand make sure the seals and pistons are freely moving.
Google ducati paddy for your brake or carb needs he's the best in the UK.

?????...….You shouldn't have to buy a new caliper, have you tried contacting them through their facebook page?...…they seem to be advertising other peoples restored calipers on there.

Thanks everybody this community is really great at helping peeps out with their problems although .... In a masterpiece of timing the company has now replied and explained the delay. I have removed the company's name from my post as they have obviously had problems and are doing their best.

its affecting all of us, the local and very good/trustworthy powder coater, was a three man operation working very early AM, around 0600 until about 1400 is now a one man operation, the other two have Covid, the security arrangements are sever, no prior phone call, no service! and on arrival, the customer unloads his goods himself, no matter the size or weight, and it is then untouched/quarantined for 48 hours, normal one week service, (very often 24 hours for cash jobs) it is not.I sincerely hope for the families sake that they both recover well.
