Back in the Laverda fold after 50 years

Just added Laverda 1974 750 SF2 to my herd....after 50 years. I had a American Eagle 750 in the early 70's and have been wanting to add a Laverda to my collection. The SF2 definitely needs some work. I'll be posting some technical questions here shortly - trying to get back up to speed on the Laverda arcana - the green book is my friend. I have lots of Italian arcane experience - with a Moto Morin 3 1/2, Round case Bevel Ducati, Guzzi v65 and Benelli 650S all frameup restores.

Pictures of the new Blue SF2, my old American Eagle and the current garage attached

My house is built into the side of a hill overlooking Monterey Bay, with no real spot to expand....the 2nd story of the house is street level and my driveway is really a bridge into the garage on the 2nd floor....

I did think about that when I bought the Laverda - thinking "I'm an addict!" But my buddy says "No, No - you are a collector with a storage problem>" Made me feel better :giggle:

A friend in a small town in New England had that problem. His home overlooking the sea had a tiny garage and no room to expand, so he bought a derelict gas station built in the 1930’s and remodeled it into a workshop storage place.

Oh you poor bastard a house on the side of a hill overlooking Monterey Bay, I'm crying in my beer for you.
No really mate welcome to the Forum you will find a lot of expert assistance here when you need it, this is a great forum it has been a source of spot-on information for me several times. Nice garage lineup you have there, where did you find your SF?
We are almost neighbors, well at least in the same state and south of Frisco. There is another member on this forum who also has a house on the Monterey Bay, welcome to the Forum.

I know how that garage situation feels. Wish I knew whether it being in a house overlooking Monterey Bay feels different :D !!!

You do have a great taste in Motorcycles. Even that Husky....one of my fav's in new bikes.

Looking forward to see some pics of the Guzzi maybe? that polished metal looks nice.

Not too much stock left on the V65 - the tank is hand-done aluminum tank I got from TA Baker in the UK, hand made side panels, rearsets etc.

The original V65s were 80's clunky style. When I got this, some barbarian had it before me - a doorbell for a starter button hooked up by speaker wire! and other atrocities. Did this build about 15 years ago. A great ride in the tight twisties here in the Santa Cruz mountains.

I fell in love the Husky when I saw it and the single cylinder 700 engine is a lot of fun. - I stripped it down to 320lb (75hp) fits right in with the vintage bikes - pure bike.

Thanks for the welcome - and enjoy the beer :)

I picked up the bike off of eBay from a guy in texas who bought it with couple of other bikes a few years a go. It's a "restomod" that really hasn't been run for awhile. First time I've bought a running bike sight unseen - had some trouble with loose connections to the Sasche getting it, but now seems to be running fine. Still going through the bike in detail and making a list. Did change the oil first thing!
