Bar-end Mirrors

Since DOC raised the subject I thought I would comment.

I have just recently bought and fitted some bar-end mirrors supplied by Oberon:
http://www.oberon-performance.com/acatalog/Oberon_Mirrors.html

I don't have any connection with the company.

They work really well, with unobstructed rearward vision - I went for the oblong ones just to make sure and also the clamp type.

They take some setting up to get the right angle, I found that setting the uprights at a forward angle clears my hand when getting off the bike.
The uprights can be folded away to help with storage/parking issues.
If I need to then they can be removed in a jiffy and a plug/blank inserted in the grip-end

Very impressed with the quality and they are relatively easy to fit. I did have to clean up the inside of the handlebars to get the split collet in and of course cut a circle in the rubber grips.
Not cheap though.

Overall I would say 9/10 for me, they could do with a marginally wider field of vision but I am being really picky here as vision is excellent.

We have similar mirrors made by CRG here in the states. The CRGs come in 2 or 3 inch diameter mirror sizes, and some versions are foldable, which helps when space is tight (either on the road or in the garage). All mirrors are convex, and rear view is excellent. I have them on every one of my bikes except the KTM.

Nice unobtrusive looking bit of kit, just ordered one.
Thanks for posting.

Bought a set of 75mm round jobbies off fleabay, black anodised aluminium bodies/stems with convex mirrors. Just the ducks at $12 (Not $27, Just checked my cost) a pair delivered.

Same as these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-Motorcycle-Bar-End-Mirror-Honda-Yamaha-KTM-BMW-/190672003876?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c64efe324#ht_3124wt_1139

+1 on the CRG bar end mirror.
Remarkably good on the Jota even if Keith did call it a "wee gay mirror".

Like Davo, I bought a cheapo pair of CRG copies from Asia a few years ago. They work fine as long as you do the fixing screws up tight enough. They're still on the bike but some of the silver has worn off the inside of the mirrors. Being circular, the glass can vibrate around (rotate) in the frame and rub off a circular strip of the silvered backing. It's only a thin little strip so the mirrors are still good to use. I paid about $30 a few years ago. Now that the price has reduced to $5 I just bought two more pairs as spares. I couldn't get replacement glass that cheaply!

Cheers,
Cam

I have a pair of these occupying cupboard space. Might be worth posting around OZ but not OS for the cost. If anyone wants em, first in best dressed mirror wise. They had light surface rust but when I polished them it all went away at least visually. They look like new but you can feel the surface isn't perfectly smooth.

I also have a dead air conpressor, ageing BMW, deadish Honda Accord........sigh..... The argy is running wonderfully though! Maybe my priorities need re-adjustment.....

Hey All

I've tried others, Oberon & CRG.

Oberon are better than others but CRG are better still ............. ;)

I love my little CRG, but Keith was rude about mine too... :P    There is however a pic of it in the gallery on his website!
