BaT find - Modified 1975 Laverda 750 SF2

Would be worth more as a decent SF2.
A bit like Ducati singles. Most have been racerised. Difficult to find an original Mk3 nowadays.

The cracked crankcase is a real turn off. If the seller believes that it has been "caused by the chain", then he should pull the gearbox covers and show what kind of chain damage lurks behind them. I had a 3C which developed a stress crack in that area, but didn't look anywhere near as bad as that.
 
Just another bastardised twin that fulfills neither roles. Lost its touring qualities and the race "qualities" are purely cosmetic, imho.

That is quite possibly chain-induced damage. Apparently far more common than one would imagine, I've come across quite a few (twins and triples) with similar damage.

I find many triple engines fitted to frames under stress. The cases should be shimmed to fit the frame. It's always those that let the frame spring open when the engine bolts are loosened that are cracked.

That's interesting-do you find that a stressed frame has more 'buzz' when riding than a properly shimmed/fitted engine?

No. With the heav-duty guage tube Laverda used for the frames the differences will be negligable.
