G'day all,
Having a bit of a problem with my RGS; when I went to start it this morning, all I got was a buzzing from the starter solenoid. On measuring across the battery terminal, I got about 10 volts.
Managed to bump-start the bike and once it was warmed up, the voltage across the terminals was about 12.5 at idle going up to 13-14V at approx 2000 revs.
This afternoon, I fitted the battery from the ride-on,;bike started ok but when I revved the engine, the voltage went up to about 16-17 volts.
The workshop manual says that it shouldn't go above 14V.
The question; is the battery being over-charged and cooked or are those voltages normal?
Help would be much appreciated.

Terry

Sounds like the regulator/rectifier has turned up it's toes. Electrex do a direct replacement http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/ look for an RR10 although most three phase reg recs will work OK if you have a breakers nearby.

Definitely a fried regulator. See if red has a spare one. Maximum voltage should be about 14.4V. You may have fried the battery unfortunately. Stick it on a charger for a while and see what it does.

Terry,
Second hand ones in stock, should get you going.
Send me the numbers on the side so I don't send you a 180 version.
You have Maxene's e-mail address
