Bikes excluded from Winton Historical Meeting

I see that due to insurance company insistence on safety changes to the circuit, Bikes will not run at this years Winton.

The required changes apparently may affect approval for cars so it appears the easy way out is to drop bikes.

Nothing anyone here can do about it, but discussion on another (mainly car) forum has raised some questions in my mind.
Here in NZ car/bike meetings are now very rare. Neither side likes them. Bikes don't like oil droppers - and a lot of the car people
simply don't like bikes around. I've done CoC for the bike side at a couple of meetings and had to tolerate some pretty abusive behaviour.

I'm informed - quite firmly too - that it's different in OZ. Everyone gets along and is respectful.

So I'm asking anyone who's done a Historic car/bike meeting in Oz - is this really so ?

I wonder if the insurance issue is related to no bikes, Greg. I receive communications from MA (Motorcyling Australia) and there have been several letters sent relating to a serious stoush between the Victorian sub-branch and the national body. I think it came to a head about a month ago and IIRC. MA have disallowed permits due to a failure to reach an agreement on insurance.

Can’t comment on car-bike relations.

Interesting. The announcement from the organisers - which I can't link to,sorry - implies it's a new insurer who is requesting changes.
And as i said above, the changes may affect the circuit approval for cars.
But nothing in motorcycle politics is simple or straightforward.
Is MA insisting on a particular insurer ?

Pleased to live here in NZ where we have the national ACC scheme for injuries. Public Liability is the responsibility of the circuit operators.

Pheasant Wood at Marulan run a vintage car and bike meet in September, I've competed with the Austin, last time I drove it, everyone got on fine.

Decades back they did the same at Amaroo. Other than the one Marty mentioned I don't remember others. The Supercars and Superbikes run together in Darwin.

If I understand correctly, yes, there is conflict over a particular insurer.
