Boggy Creek Pub In Coming

Looking like the weather will be kind ... heatwave now but mid 20's for the weekend. Whew! Few bushfires about too - hope things settle down.
 
Good weekends outing for the big steeds, Hooksey. Great little spot by the Curdie there. Thanks to you and Serge for organising.

And wet it was indeed - not a huge lot of fun with a rear tyre that gave numerous not so subtle hints that it's not a good wet weather tyre and is past its use-by date in any case! Dunlop Sportmax Q3 rear is great in the dry anywhere when nicely warmed up, but not the most.confidence inspiring wet weather hoop I've ever ridden on! And I was taking it VERY easy! The sticky rubber is too far off the centre line to come into play on those greasy shiny patches of bitumen around the Otways. Front seemed to behave pretty well - sticky compound all over.

Came close to hitting a koala (at speed) for the first time in my life too ... had to actually accelerate in order to beat him in his attempt to cross the road ... don't think I've ever seen a koala run ... they look quite odd! Not keen on seeing another run across in front of me ever again either.

Glad to read i wasn't imagining things ... this blogger from NZ had a similar Dunlop Sports tyre on his bike - he got 3700km, so I did well to get 6000km!

Regular readers of this blog will know the history of the tyres I’ve had on the GSX-S 1000 from previous posts. By way of a brief recap, the OEM Dunlop D214 pure sport tyres were horrid things for road use in NZ where it’s eminently possible to get 4 seasons in one day. Grip in warm, dry conditions was fine but when it was cooler and damp, they were bastards (to use a technical term). Hard to get enough heat in them in those circumstances for decent grip and I didn’t trust them. Also bearing in mind that I was breaking the bike in during this period, a rear tyre life of 3700 km to a completely ruined state was pretty underwhelming. It was also potentially bankrupting considering that I generally cover about 20,000 km/yr.

A few of us a making plans to make the trip to Curdie Vale this year.
Depends on the weather, wet and cold is good, 30 plus not good.

Dates 7th and 8th Feb? which is a weekend and a half as the first weekend in Feb is a half weekend. ;)
 
Pubs ok Marty……it’s Sth/west of fire zone, but our usual route will more than likely be out of bounds. Fires are outta control in the Otways and heading to Apollo bay!

Been locked on ABC Melbourne listening to the fire reports… but the fucking tennis 😡

Surely, not all Melbounians get off on the tennis?

You guys are copping it both ends, flash flooding a few weeks ago and now bush fires close to the same area.
More fires in the nth east of Vic, major flooding in Qld. fuk me we're doomed, all doomed I say. :devilish:

Half way through major service on the Jota, see you there all going well.(y)
