BOLO Jota Title

I just purchased a ‘77 Jota project, and the USPS Priority Mail envelope from the seller in Arizona to me was hacked in transit. The culprit removed the AZ original title, shop manual and original Slater letter, and replaced them with hockey pucks. My seller is ordering a duplicate title and will send to me. I have a small concern that the original title will find its way into the wrong hands. The bike is in transit to me separately. If anyone comes across an offering of the title, Slater letter or a purported Jota with frame no. 5232, I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks, Ben

I think I'm ok. Mike canceled the title and ordered a new one. Arguing with the USPS is like arguing with a dog. The only real loss is an original shop manual and Slater letter.

I have so many pucks in the garage already Jim. The pucks look new. believe that it was a postal employee who does this routinely. Who else would have hockey pucks on hand of the same weight and thickness of the shop manual. Taping it up and keeping it enroute eliminates the ability to determine where it happened. I did keep the envelope. It is covered with clear shipping tape. I think it is impossible to use that stuff without leaving your fingerprints on it. Mabe the Postal Inspector's office will take this seriously. Maybe not.

That comment reminded me of an old movie I saw once. Apparently, the US Postal Service has its own Armed Investigation Division, with the same powers as The FBI. That's pretty funny to non-US citizens. It seems every US Government Department has its own Armed Specialist Police Force. Look up the definition of US Federal Special Agent.
