It's the envelope figure third from the right in the above content line in dark blue. So it's searches, alert bell, and envolope.

My son did a intro to motorcycling class before we got him onto his own KTM Duke-let and my Laverdas. His instructor had him press the horn button in an early class session and told him yes now you knew it worked but that was the last time it was worth using it as all it would do was to irritate the car drivers and have no beneficial effect. When he told me that I did reflect on how ineffective that button had been for me since I moved to USA Arizona riding motorcycles and realized he was absolutely right.
Good to have one but totally useless for the originally intended purpose!

I can't imagine motorcycling without one. It might irritate car drivers but it also wakes them up.
Hooting is even obligatory when going round blind mountain corners to warn oncoming traffic of your presence.

It's been replaced on modern bikes by the rev limiter, if you watch those Utube videos it's important to rev bomb just before you hit the car so they know they're doing wrong. To me avoiding the car is better than expecting any noise to change their lack of awareness. I had a really close call in my car the other day just bearly avoiding a parked car that suddenly pulled out as I passed, no time for the horn, milliseconds to steer away and just miss them. I do like my horns, Once a year at least one needs stripping to get working again.

( you often guess in advance that a car is going to do something silly, a honk will often make avoiding it unecessary. A honk on a bike is always better than avoiding or panic braking)

I agree. I don't think I've ever used a horn on any vehicle to avoid a crash with another driver. If you're in an emergency situation, a horn is not going to get you out of it. Your first priority must be to take some sort of evasive action.

By tooting the horn, you're saying to the other driver "You're doing something dumb. You need to figure out what it is you're doing wrong, decide what action you need to take to remedy the situation, then do it." By the time that's gone through their brain, you've already hit them. Pretty much the only scenario I can imagine where the use of a horn might avoid a crash is if you're stationary (in a car park for example) and someone is about to back into you.

On occasions when I've been tooted at in traffic, my reaction is "Who the fuck is tooting? Where are they? Who are they tooting at? Is it me? If it's me, what am I doing that I shouldn't? What do I need to do? etc ... It takes a while to process it all. In the meantime, the tooting driver already knows what the problem is, so they have a head start on figuring out a crash avoidance solution. They'd be better off implementing their solution rather than confusing me and maybe other drivers around them by tooting their horn.

The level of driving ability, in this country, is staggeringly bad. When you're stopped in traffic and the car in front decides to reverse into the parking space beside you, try evading that one!
I've always been grateful for my Triple's forward-facing and very loud horns. They've been very effective at halting dumb drivers.Horn Refurb 5.JPG

We must obviously be the only ones living in countries with dumb, blind and or psychopathic drivers.
