Lothar - as Bob suggests have a look at CBR 400 forks. May be a tad short but light and quite sophisticated.

yeah - was told that YZF or FZR Yamaha would have adjusters, too, and are RSU if before year 2000. Will check into that...

Have a M1R Fork from a Guzzi that has compression and Rebound damping, but no pre-load adjuster. Quite heavy fork though...

Never seen those plug caps before Bob..sure look fancy. Do they still need the alloy caps or do they do away with that weak link? Is there any reason you dont use the normal NGK plug caps like us humble street riders?
Your loyal readership expects vistory Bob, no more DNFs, so get those "tolerance issues" sorted , allright? ;)

Nick, surely you realise that when you build a race bike every component you use must either be a] different, b] significantly more expensive or c] have the words 'competition' or 'race' as a prefix. Preferably a combination of all three. If those three criteria aren't met then how's is a chap to convince himself that he's actually going to go faster?

Joking apart the reason I like the rubber caps is simply because they provide an excellent weather seal [sometimes we ride in the wet, even in Italy] and on the advice of Brad,my mentor in all things electrical, he suggested I pay careful attention to the accumulated resistance on the HT side of the ignition. I had a word with NGK, told them what I was doing and they came up with plug/plug cap/ HT lead combination which would be suitable.
The standard red road type caps are perfectly OK, I simply got a good deal on the rubber ones . They're not particularly expensive at around a tenner.

I keep telling myself that if nothing went wrong I'd have bugger-all to write about.

PS The rubber caps don't require an alloy cap on the plug.

Thank you Clem..you know me too well! But those caps of Bob's don't have the angle per the plastic caps, and I think that helps on the outer cylinders.
Bob, very good response :D :D But personally I would be happy with a page of text from you as follows: I WON, I WON, I WON !! Though doubt the editor of Classic Bikes would approve!
Cheers
