Brake disc bobbins

Hi all,
Looking at re fitting floating discs on the front of an sfc1000, these have new carriers and used discs, currently have ebc version.
Is there any reason why you cannot use external circlips (carbon) rather than the std ‘e’ clip?
It just seems to me that they have a more secure feel when fitted, I lost a circlip years ago which was what prompted to to try the ebc replacements in the first place.
Also, can anyone confirm the grove diameter in the bobbin, I estimate it’s 10mm (bobbin 13.75mm?)

dont foget thast there is a wavy washer to take up the slack, the E clips work very well (genric item from a fixings specialist) .
oversize bobbins can be had from France Equipe, (a French dealer) to rectify worn discs/carriers, a skilled engineer is needed to clamp the disc and carrier together and over bore the holes without following the wear error.

When I lost a clip & bobbin, I was doing about 40mph, it broke the carrier and disc. so I fitted ebc replacements and binned the old ones. Later, maybe 10 years ago I think, I bought these refurbed discs, it’s only recently I got around to thinking about using them, they appear to be re manufactured carriers with used discs. There are bobbins & e clips, no wave washers, there does not appear to be enough room for washers, making them fully floating. ( I did read that on a brake website somewhere, correct me if that’s just plain crap!)
So, I think I’ll stick with ebc for now,
