Brake light switch

Just noticed the lights on the motodd take alot of preasure on the front brake to activate the light. More than Id normally use tootering around town
Also the back brake, have to seriously stand it for the light to activate.
Hasn't been like this in the past. As it's a pressure switch I don't think there is any adjustment.
Has anybody else had this problem and found a fix?

Fit a new switch Rob, all goes back to normal.

Apparently the membrane inside stiffens/hardens, increasing the pressure required to let the volts pass through...

Can send you some down.

My Brembo radial m/cyl that came gratis with used R1 clipons has a micro-switch. They negate the need for the pressure switch junction box and additional brake hoses. I've got a cheapo hydraulic switch for the rear brake - which I only fitted for roadworthy chk. I never slow my bike down using the back brake alone, so a rear brake light switch is basically redundant.

Item of no long term reliability, hydraulic actuated switches, modern levers with microswitch incorporated, can be adjusted for actual activation positional travel of lever overall, serviceable and reliable. That should cover it.... j

I experienced the same issue; a new pressure switch fixed it. Toss the old ones; you can't fix them.

I like my brake light to activate at the slightest touch. After improving my front brake, the light came on after the usual pressure from the poor original system. It's a shame they're not adjustable to suit upgrades.

I use my back brake quite a lot, and in some situations I only use the back brake. Therefore, I can appreciate Vince’s concern. However, quite a few of my bikes are on ‘day light’ use only tickets and they don’t have any lights at all fitted. I’ve always thought it a bit bizarre you don’t need a working brake light but them’s the rules. Have you tried to flap your arm, to signal you’re braking, in an emergency stop scenario?

I have a habit of pumping my brakes so the brake light flashes , travling in car and bikes to wake people up to any not typical stopping. My lane access to where I park isnt obvious,, and the number of times slowing almost gets me rear-ended, the brake pumping definaty gets attension in a good way. I do the same if traffic slows, blind somnombulists drive about in a daze everywhere. Not a fan of riders who dont activate a brake light, just using engine braking. I like to get a hint if your slowing down.

My GSX1400 has an LED aftermarket tail light. When the brakes are applied the brake light flashes a few times before turning solid. Never been rear ended since 🤔 nor before 🤔🤔🤔
