Brembo caliper pins

Anyone ever able to remove and re-install the small diameter wire clip on the pins holding the pads in
the caliper body ? I'm not sure that the security/safety factor is lowered by not having them. Are these
clips available at all ? Grazie.

Endurance racers used a variety of means to ensure that the pins stayed put, so I'd leave that spring clip in. It is a spring clip. Installing just involves pushing its free end down when you insert the second pin.

Rob & Paul: I'm of the opinion that the pins will be safe sans the round wire clip, one on
each pin. Paul:I was referring to the small diameter wire round clip and not the flat metal
clip that rides between the pads and presses down into the caliper body. I think there is
enough tension created to ensure that the pins don't back out. I'm also sure Brembo
never offered these as spare parts but ??

Definitely do not just rely on the centre spring loaded bit to hold the pins in.
I safety wire between the pins across where the bleed nipple is on mine, even though only for sprint races 🏁 even with the wire spring retainers on them. Or get some original pins, they don't rust.

the stainless ones from Raplh Allen (Motalia) in the UK sell, come with the springs clips, as above I always wired the pins to each other, have done so for decades, the bore can wear in the body which makes them scrap if they rattle about, dont even think of using the pins with no spring clips.

Jim: The small diameter round wire clip on each pin near the bottom portion of the shot. I assume
they provide a slight interference fit in the holes they pass through in the caliper body. And with that
gentleman lets call it resolved as to adding a mechanical locking solution.

says the voice of experiance!

I have nearly 45 years of using Brembo PO8's and 9's including three years racing, in the early days and 2 more later on, and more than a quarter mil miles on TOG.
